Introduction Research on life stress in bipolar disorder largely fails to account for the possibility of a dynamic relationship between psychosocial and episode initiation. The kindling hypothesis states that over course recurrent affective disorders, there is weakening temporal major initiation could reflect either progressive sensitization or autonomy stress. Objectives To explore concept Kindling model applied present clinical case patient whose latter mood episodes were caused by adverse events. Methods We performed non-systematic literature review using most relevant papers found database PubMed with keywords “kindling effect”, “allostatic load”, “bipolar disorder” “prevention”. Description report. Results phenomenon was first discovered Goddard 1967 who described it epilepsy. Later, Post disorder, arguing initial both unipolar disorders are often precipitated stressors, but after multiple recurrences, not only do continue occur, so spontaneous ones as well. report 62 years old woman, divorced, diagnosed type 1 since she 20 old. She always have had poor adherence her medication follow-up Psychiatry consultation, non-containing sociofamily environment does promote stability. Over time, admissions ward more frequent events, mainly deteriorated children. Conclusions clarifies aspects longitudinal development, recurrence, progression spontaneity, well further conceptual theoretical rationales intervention order prevent illness progression.
